Where to publish
« on: January 31, 2014, 01:10:42 PM »
I'm working on a paper that I feel is somewhat outside the focus of several genres, but closest to inorganic chemistry.  The work I've done has been to characterize the structure (X-ray, and NMR mainly) of 7 biologically-relevant inorganic complexes with the purpose of supporting structure-activity data which will be reported elsewhere.

I'm currently having trouble finding a journal where this would be appropriate to publish, especially since the structures are not outside of what is expected, and serve as another example of a known coordination mode, albeit with novel complexes.

Anyway, to the point, I was hoping that someone might point me in the right direction, as I'm finding it difficult to find a journal that feels appropriate.  I had initially considered EJIC, but I'm now wondering if this might just be better off stuffed in the supplemental information of the bio paper. I would like to get a publication out of the effort though...

Any ideas?

Journal of inorganic biochemistry?
Or maybe something like journal of molecular structure or acta crystallographica?

All good suggestions, J Mol Struct seems like a decent fit.  I'll prob try something with a bit higher impact first, and then submit there if it gets rejected.  Thanks ;D

Also, I've seen lists of relevant journals with their impact factors before, but am having trouble locating one today, anyone have sources?
