Organic Question Expectations
« on: March 20, 2014, 06:16:06 AM »
I am doing an undergraduate assignment for organic chemistry and it has a few questions relating to oxidation and reduction reactions. The questions all follow relatively similar format and I'm wondering if someone could help me to identify where the marks are coming from....

For example, I have a question based on the epoxidation of an electrophilic alkene. Part (a) of the question asks to determine the reagents of the transformation from alkene to epoxide. I have chosen to use NaOH (aq), H2O2, MeOH (i.e. basic conditions).

The question is worth 3 marks... I don't know if this will be enough? Should I include anything else like how these reagents are made? the overall mechanism of the reaction?

Thanks!!
