How to keep a mixture from turning solid?
« on: April 08, 2014, 01:44:08 AM »
What can I add to a mixture of coconut oil (that becomes solid below 76 F) and water to keep it a liquid so that it can be sprayed? Is there something I can add to make it stay room temp?

Thank you for your suggestion. I have tried the veg glycerine but it didn't work. What kind of citrus would you recommend? I want to avoid alcohol because the use is for body/hair... Thank you so much !

From our forum rules (you should         read the forum rules)
Quote
We have nothing against a reasonable scientific discussion of the properties of ..., but we will not help you hurt yourself making them.

Due to their potential health hazards, we will also not help you prepare your own medicines or cosmetics.
So we might let a very general discussion happen, but it may be shut down if it concerns anyone.

Additionally, this is a chemistry forum there are limited number of people who frequent here who are well versed in human biology.

So if you post

XYZ is in this cosmetic what do you think it will do to a person.
The topic may be locked or ignored.
Or, You may get a very general response.
Since, Soap making is a thing that is often done in chemistry lab we let that pass, but there are topics we will lock.
So you at the whim of the moderator as to whether your post will be acceptable.

@raxx1328
Since you posted this

I want to avoid alcohol because the use is for body/hair.
That statement makes this tread into a cosmetic discussion and not reasonable scientific discussion.

By the way
When I posted citrus - I was thinking of the results I got on GOOGLE using
"lemon juice and emulsion"
