Lithium Aluminum Hydride

I had an unfortunate event today.  I work in round bottoms.  I was doing a LAH reduction and was trying to stir the solids off of the side of the round bottom when perfect cirlce hole came out of my round bottom.  Really crazy to be working with LAH and have water come rushing into the reaction. 

A traditional n.n,3n method makes the material easy to recover.  When too much water is in the system a slime like material is formed.  This material is very difficult to remove.  Does anyone have any ideas how to more easily remove the emulsion/slime??

This is presumably aluminium hydroxides as hydrates! Try adding lots of Rochele's salt to some of it and stir, see if it gets more easy to filter.
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!

Yea, big pain in the ass.  It is funny, disco, we were just talking about how precarious it is working in round bottoms on a larger scale..

That's usually happens eventually due to the stirrer. It scratches the glass and eventually out pops a clean circle.
