about boiling points
« on: May 06, 2014, 01:08:45 PM »
So, suppose propanol has a boiling point of 115 degrees F, propanone has a boiling point of 133 degrees F, propanoic acid has a boiling point of 286 degrees F and Methyl propanoate has a boiling point of 176 degrees F. I need you to explain the differences in boiling points of the four compounds based on their structures.

Well, I wouldn't suppose, but actually look up the numbers.

And we need you to trouble yourself to read the forum rules, we like to see at least a little effort on your part when you ask a question.  What are the structural differences of each?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
