1. What is the potential, in volts, of the ascorbic acid half cell at pH 5 vs. the standard hydrogen half cell? Hint: Think about which was the reference (anode).
We used Zn as our anode in our experiment
Zn^2+ +2e <=> Zn -0.76V
And the potential of hydrogen half cell is 0V
The potential, in volts, i got for my ascorbic acid half cell @ pH of 5 is .280
I've tried both 0-.280 = -0.280 and .280 - (-.76). both of which are wrong.
how do I solve this?
