Hello everyone, I am very new here and i was wondering if anyone could answer my question. I know how to synthesize acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) with the following materials:

salicylic acid
acetic anhydride
phosphoric acid
water
ethanol

However, I want to know how to synthesize aspirin with

salicylic acid (same as above)
GASEOUS ETHENE
AQUEOUS SULFURIC ACID
OXIDIZER POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE
water (same as above)

Thanks for all the help i really appreciate it !

Welcome to the ChemicalForums.  However, per forum rules you should show your attempts at solving the problem before receiving help.  You said that you know how to make acetylsalycylic acid, and you gave a list of ingredients.  But do you know what reaction takes place?  You've mentioned some alternate reagents, do you know of some reactions you can perform on those new reagents to get the reagent you need?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Hi arkcon, I have figured almost everything out since the time I made this post. Most of my lack of understanding came down to misinterpretation.

The final piece of the puzzle that i need to figure out is quite a simple one but for some reason i cannot figure it out. I have to figure out how to synthesize some kind of carboxylic acid from ethene and potassium permanganate.

I know that ethene and kmno4 will will oxidize to make ethane-1,2-diol. But then I am not sure how to go from this ethan-1,2-diol to a carboxylic acid.

Thank you for educating me on the forum rules. Thanks for the help.

P.S was my attempt at the problem good enough?
