Hi there,
a question about this reaction:
CH(2Π) + N2(1Σg+) --> H(2S) + NCN(3Σg-)
If I would consider diatomic molecules, I would have the selection rule: S = ± 0. Here is the triatomic molecule NCN involved. I know these rules that exist for diatomic molecules cannot that easily transferred to polyatomic molecules. In a paper with theoretical calculations it's written that this reaction is spin-allowed. There's one more way to know that this reaction is spin-allowed except for theoretical calculations or looking it up in a paper? Do I miss a point?
