Hello everyone,

First let me introduce myself: I am in my junior year in high school. I have enrolled in a program that lets me take college classes at an adjacent community college campus and currently have 30 units of college credit under my record. I am going to major in either Chemical Engineering or O-Chem (I haven't made up my mind).

As I approach the end of my high school career, my counselor has just told me that before my HS graduation I will have accumulated enough general education college credit to obtain an Associate's Degree (In other words I will have two graduation ceremonies!); in order to obtain such a degree all I have to do is follow a specific course programme of my choice, of the following choices:

1. Mathematics (A-S or A-ST)
2. Physics (A-S)

The deadline for my decision is in 3 days. Which one should I take to supplement my academic career in chemistry (which one is more suitable/equitable for my future chemistry career?)?

I agree; go for math and understand as much as you can as early as you can.
I finished my associate's degree in general science (including all my math requirements) last year at a community college and have recently transferred directly into my junior year at a state college chemistry program. I think it's a good system in that it saves a substantial amount of money.

I wouldn't say that. Good grasp of some physics concepts definitely helps.

Sorry guys for the late update/reply. I've talked with my counselor and I've decided to go ahead and take both course plans.

Because why not? The Physics AS course requirements are exactly the same as the math requirements (except with physics 202,203, and 204 courses ofcourse), so I could kill two birds with one stone on that one. I've also made up my mind as a major: I'm going to take Chemical Engineering.

Along with my core chemistry classes, I think this is definitely going to take up a hell of a lot of time, study, and work. So far the courses have been going pretty well, but who's to say they won't get harder.

I wished I was able to take college level courses as well. Sadly such an option is not available here
