dissolving more substance in a saturated solution

Hi there!
If I have a saturated solution of NaCl , can I dissolve another salt like KNO3 in it or not?

Presumably, you're aware of the common ion effect, so you didn't ask for sodium hydroxide or potassium chloride.  Now, here's something to think about:  if you've made a saturated sodium chloride solution, what has actually happened?  Is the water, different in some way?

You mean a difference except that a portion of water molecules have surrounded dissolved ions? :-\

There you go, I'm glad you deduced that part.  The water activity will be reduced somewhat by the excess of solute.
