Chromium Alum reaction
« on: December 06, 2014, 07:37:58 AM »
Hi everyone
I would like to ask what products are formed when chrome alum (K2SO4*Cr2(SO4)3*24H2O) reacts with Ba(NO3)2
I assume this is a double displacement reaction and I was given that some precipitate was formed during this reaction.
Thanks for help

You know that barium sulfate is insoluble and nitrates of all compounds are soluble.Nitrates of potassium and chromium and their sulfates are soluble.Only insoluble is BaSO4(white precipitates)

Thanks and do you happen to know the second product ? This one I have guessed but I don't know whether K2Cr2(NO3)2 was formed or if something else was created.
