I am an Ap chem student. I was reading a text on some chemical process in the text book and i came across methanolic somthing. I marked the page but i cannot find it. I was curious what exactly that means. I would assume it meant that what ever the other compound/molecule was, it was surrounded or somehow bonded via van der waals forces. Any information is appriciated.

It just means that there is methanol around.  For example, "methanolic HCl" is just a solution of HCl in methanol.
