Quantum Numbers Change, make a periodic table?
« on: February 10, 2015, 07:20:31 PM »
Hey guys, this is my first of many posts to come on this forum.

For homework, I have to create a periodic chart with the first 50 elements if there was a new set of allowable values for quantum numbers.

Principal Quantum n stays the same (1 to infinity)
l changes (0 to n, not to 0 to n-1)
ml is the same (-l to +l)
ms is different (+1/2, -1/2, 0)

My question is, how would I do this?
Would my Aufbau energy energy table change?

How would my new periodic table look? Thanks!

You have to show your attempts at solving the question to receive help. This is a forum policy.

Start with the first period. How many elements would you expect there?
