I am new to this forum and this field.

I have a small amount of brine that I need to measure the SG.  Since there is not enough to fill the glass container and place the SG device in it, I wonder if I can obtain a reasonably accurate reading this way.  For talking purposes, say there are two ounces and I need 6 ounces to measure it.  If I add 4 ounces of distilled water and then measure it, subtract the reference 1.0 (water) and multiply the remainder by 3, add back the 1.0, will this work?

Simply subtract the weight of the water, for example: If you have 1 ml material and 4 ml = 4 g of water. And you weigh 6 grams. Then 6 - 4 = 2 g for 1 ml of material --> 2 g/ml.

Or simply have enough material, or good enough equipment for the amount of material you have.
