Running Electricity through a salt solution.

I need to run a 3v motor through some sort of salt solution. I've tried NaCl, epsom salt, and a few others. What can i use so that the motor still runs? When I use NaCl the electrolytic reaction takes place (one electrode bubbles, and the other darkens) but the motor doesnt run.

EDIT: I believe the wired are tinned copper, ive also tried plain copper.

Take a multimeter, measure the current and the potential difference, calculate the solution resistance. What is the voltage on the motor contacts?

My crappy old multimeter isnt telling me much.... Except that the resistance in the solution seems to be about 3 ohms. The motor does run if i touch the contacts alone (obviously) but wont on my closest resistor (4.7 ohms).

Dissolve more salt, use electrodes with a bigger surface, put them closer to an other.
