Synthesis: Cyclohexeneoxide from bromocylohexane
« on: March 22, 2015, 08:38:48 AM »
I have to list the steps for this synthesis (see attachment).

I was thinking of using the reagent NaH to synthesise this epoxide, but that requires 2-bromocyclohexan-1-ol as starting material, and I don't know how to come from bromocyclohexan to 2-bromocyclohexan-1-ol.

Well that doesnt work. Little idea:
1) think of all reactions you know that can make epoxides
2) think how you can get the needed intermediate that can  be used to make epoxide from the bromo derivate.
