Some Images Do Not Last Forever

I was looking at this post and noticed that the images were not what I expected

It seems that they have been replaced with advertisements of the image service

Yeah if the people use a third-party photo uploader such as imageshack, tinypic and photobucket, I believe there is an expiration time. Maybe they still consume memory so to refresh, they remove the links to photo (not sure though). I've definitely seen manhy missing image icons before in old threads on other forums.

You need to allow Imageshack to save cookies and run scripts, or you won't see the images.  Unless they've been deleted by the poster, in which case the advert is all you'll ever get.  I don't like external image storage sites, I'd rather images were stored here, for just this sort of reason.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

How big a problem is this? I doubt there's many of these threads.

Large enough to be irritating now and then ;)

Plus, long ago we lost part of the files stored on the server, when forum was moved to a new provider in the panic mode.
