Halide stabilization for storage

I've used copper shavings before to help stabilize aryl/allyl iodides for storage.  Have any of you heard of using Cu for bromides or have suggestions for other stabilizing agents?  My compound is an oil, so ideally it would be an insoluble solid so separation will be easy when I need to use it for the next step.

Well they use silver wire/wool to stabilise chloroform and methyl iodide.
And Aldrich sell iodomethane stabilised with silver wool, so I guess that would be ok for your compound.

I've added some to the oil and was very careful about light (early morning/dark room work) and it seems to be good!  Scared the deliver guy though :P.
