For an experiment I must calculate the specific rotation of sucrose. Standard solutions were analysed polarimetry and a calibration curve created.
"Calculate specific rotation from the slope of the graph".
I calculated the slope of the graph:
difference in y values = 45
difference in x values = 28
y/x = 1.60
So now I need to use the equation [a]/1 x c
I am assuming its [1.6]/1 x c.
My question being which concentration do I use? an average, or the concentration of the unknown, determined from the calibration curve?
