Hi

I synthesized anthranillic acid. I was quite confiused about that color of my product !? It's not light Brown like it's supposed to be it was rather Bordeau-brown but you could see that it was a crystal. Anyway, I then made an IR and you can see the results in the attachment. The one with the big water peak (;-) , didn't dry it yet ) is my compound and the other one from anthranillic acid like it's supposed to be. The peaks are correct yet they are much weaker in my IR. What does that mean?

Firstly, try a recrystallization before IR sampling.
What you see, it is not only humidity but also the intramolecular hydrogen bonds and dimers formation. So, the IR spectra are identical but taken at different concentrations or the last one is automatically calibrated by the FTIR software.

Do You think the IR will Improve after the  recrystallization ? The ones on the right (fingerprint )?

And can the color become lighter ? The color was really weird
