Chemical equation
« on: June 01, 2015, 04:41:34 PM »
I have this equation for the obtaining of K3[Cr(O2)4]
(NH4)2Cr2O7 + H2O2 + KOH  :rarrow: K3[Cr(O2)4] + O2 + NH3 + H2O

I don't know how to balance it, if you could help me, it would be great! Thank you!

Balances nicely without oxygen on the right.

That's the issue, are you sure oxygen gas is given off?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Balance Cr and N first ...then Balance K ...then H  and in the last balance O by placing a coefficient in front of independent O2 ....you can put a fraction also .

Vidya, it wouldn't hurt to check before giving a generic answer. This equation as written can't be balanced, so your advice is useless.

Yes Borek I agree with your advise ....I knew that equation is not right still I gave the steps so that student can also check that his reaction can not be balanced.
