cisplatin preparation!
« on: June 08, 2015, 03:34:34 AM »
Hi! i am preparing cisplatin and i used procedure based on DHARA synthesis, one-pot reaction, it seems that the yield is only about 35 % in my case, i am afraid it can be a problem not to use good amounts of chemicals. If ayone prepare cisplatin and have higher yield - are this proportions OK? e.g. for 200 mg of K2PtCl4 use 320 mg of KI , then i use that amount of ammonia till all brown stuff disappear, then 640 mg of AgNO3 , and at the end 70 mg og KCl.
Thanks!!

why dont you just recalculate the amounts of reagents in the DHARA article into moles and then compare with the amounts you used (in moles)

Because in some newer publication they used a little bit different amounts and called it "improved" method, but using this it was still about 35 % of yield, i asked someone and they said something even different, so i dont know how exactly should it be to obtain the best result...

So how different are the amounts?  And again, when converted to moles, are these new amounts significantly different?  Also, what yields are reported in the publications?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
