I'd like to welcome you, ilikeanimals12334: to the Chemical Forums.  According to the Forum Rules{click}, we want to see your attempt, so please click on that link, read the contents, and comply with our rules, so we can help you.

Can you start by telling us the definition of cyclo from your textbook?  If you think the definition applies, can you tell us how?  If you think it doesn't apply, can you tell us what term does?  You be better off, come exam time, if you try to understand some underlying concepts.  You probably will see a different, but similar,  molecule come exam time.

I did show you my attempt :/ I told you I labeled this as hexene, ene because of the double bond and hex because there are 6 carbons, when I google c6H12 I get something completely different, so help?

No look again at your initial post; you asked is this hexane or cyclohexane.

If you do not like the way we get you to answer your own questions round here feel free to go away.

I don't know if you can read, but I did answer my own question, NOW. I am asking for some guidance as to whether I'm correct so I can get on with my life.

How does my initial post not show my attempt? Clearly I worked out that it was either of the two and if its not, IF SOMEONE COULD KINDLY DIRECT ME.

Yes I can read but you clearly can not be bothered to re-read your first post as I suggested.  In that you posted a crude representation of a molecule and asked is this hexane or cyclohexane.  The answer is neither which Arkon tried to get you to understand gently by asking for the definition of cyclo.

You replied with an annoyed emoticon that is was hexene or cyclohexane.  I pointed out that was NOT what you posted initially.  You posted some more questioning my reading ability and sent me a bitchy PM.

You need to grow up, learn to post chemical structures correctly, ensure you post accurately and do not assume people have to help you at all if your attitude is to dismiss their attempt to get you to learn.

So the structure you listed is hexene for the reasons you listed in your reply.
An isomer of hexene is cyclohexane but as your structure is not cyclic and contains a double bond it is not cyclohexane.
You have also discovered that google searching a formula does not always work if you get the wrong isomer.

So you're calling me out because I made a mistake in the spelling, spelling aside, all I wanted was some help. Sorry, I am not perfect. I also STATED I don't know how to insert an image AS I AM NEW. Jesus

Look at section 3.8 in the forum rules, there you will read how to post pictures.

No I was trying to point out that you had not given the answer you then said you did and that was why Arkcon said what he said.

However, spelling is very important as hexane and hexene are different molecules and how do we know which one you mean if you can not be bothered to check you have written down the one you mean.

I have mentioned before that my computer used to autocorrect hexene to hexane before I found a way to stop it. (Just done it now, I'm on a different computer.) Perhaps that's what happened. But always a good idea to check your posts before clicking the Post button.

You also have to watch the "cyclo" autocorrect.  Shame when that ruins an insightful and stimulating posting.
