alka-seltzer pH
« on: September 19, 2015, 09:47:21 PM »
i need to calculate the pH on alka-seltzer in 50ml of water (7.14 apparentely) and then calculate the pH when i add 1ml of HSO4 and NaOH, i am really stuck with this one any help will be appreciated. i have been trying calculting the molarity of bicarbonate sodium and citric acid, then dividing it into 0.05L and using -log of the dividend of both concentrations but i still cant get the correct pH

What is the composition of the alka-seltzer?

It is more or less a buffer question, with the easiest approach using the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation.
