Utility of compound microscope?

I'm interested in exploring chemistry and have been trying to determine if there is any purpose to buying a compound microscope. Would it benefit my learning at all?

It comes up from time to time, and I have to ask, what will you look at under the microscope, that will answer a question you have about chemistry.

Exactly, being inexperienced I wanted to ask but the only thing I could imagine using a microscope for would be inspecting structures that form.

Please elaborate on what you mean by "structures".

I have no idea. I'm interested in exploring and learning chemistry but at the moment I have very little knowledge about it - hence the questions.
I thought that maybe different crystal or mineral like structures could form.
