Out of interest, how much does custom synthesis cost? Is it variable based on the project? Does anyone have any examples of how these things are worked out.

After my PhD I want to start up a CRO. I have some ideas but I dont know if they are viable and still have a lot of market research to do. I have identified some revenue generating areas, but I dont know what the charging structure would be...

Edit:

I worked out for a 3 month FTE based 12 step synthesis the baseline cost would be £16.5K. This is not the cost of the reagents but cost of FTE plus analysis (outsourced). Is this low for a custom synthesis?
