Ozonolysis of but-1-en-1-ylbenzene
« on: February 20, 2016, 02:36:07 PM »
What products will be made in Ozonolysis of but-1-en-1-ylbenzene, if i use DMS (dimethyl sulfate) in second step?

this is the link where you can see the 2D structure of the compound:
http://www.molbase.com/en/cas-1560-09-4.html

I have tried it and i end up with 3 compounds:
propanal
diformal
2-oxopropanedial
is it good?

Thank you for reply!

DMS means dimethylsulfide. Using this compound you answer is correct, though in mild condition (low temperature) phenyl ring may be preserved.
