Seperating toluen from acetone
« on: February 26, 2016, 12:35:25 PM »
At the begging i want to tell that i'm not native english speaker, so forgive me mistakes. So as title says i need to separate toluen from acetone (70% toluene and 30% acetone). I heard that adding water will work but im not sure...

Compare solubilities of both compounds  in water. Qualitative data you can find in internet.

Do you have complete freedom to choose any separation technique that you want?

Use multiple extraction with water.Acetone is polar so more soluble in water than toluene.

I suggest listing the chemical and physical properties of each solvent.
