chloropropane refers to an organic molecule with the propane carbon backbone and at least one chlorine atom attached to it. I recommend the former.

well what i have learned is that if you want to be really technical you should go with the first but both are acceptable

Depends on circumstances. There are two different chloropropanes, adding digits you resolve ambiguity.
