CSTR vs PFR ?? Conversion? Volume?
« on: April 05, 2016, 02:33:52 PM »
Hello everyone,

In general, to obtain a certain conversion Xi, which reactor is better between CSTR or PFR? Why?

For example: if I have A->R and I want Xa = 0,80 , is it correct to suppose that is better the CSTR since the flow in the reactor equals to the flow-out and so we have "immediately" the conversion??

What if the Volume required for a certain reaction of the first order  for PFR is larger than the volume of CSTR?
Do have we to prefer the PFR, in this case (less volume, less cost to do the reaction)?
