PropyleneGlycol with Waxes
« on: September 14, 2016, 10:16:51 AM »
Good afternoon,

I wonder if it is possible to mix with PropyleneGlycol waxes ? For example soy or paraffin waxes .

I have done some experiments and results vary widely , completely separates propylene for wax , others not. The flash point also varies widely .

What do you think I get in the mix PropyleneGlycol with vegetebal glycerine or something?
This I thank

Greetings

Bem-vindo, Carlos!

"Wax" covers substances that differ chemically. Some are strict hydrocarbons (obtained from petrol) and should mix badly with a di-alcohol while others are fatty acids, alcohols or esters (obtained from vegetable sources) which might (I didn't try) mix better with the diol.

"Paraffin" too is less accurate in normal life than in chemistry where it's generally understood as "alkane".

The flash point relies with the vapour pressure, which alcohol or acid functions lower markedly, more so than the already badly defined molecular weight, so a nonrepetitive flash point is to be expected.

Please take with mistrust, my guess is poorly substantiated here.
