Redox Reactions
« on: June 05, 2006, 04:45:24 PM »
Hey I was wondering if anyone could walk me through doing redox reactions.  I am trying to do these two here:

1. (Acidic)  NO1- 3 + S ---->NO2 + H2SO4

2. (Basic)  BrO 1- 3 + MnO2 ----> Br1- + MnO1- 4

ANY help would be greatly appreciated

Check out these balancing equations lectures. Probably half-reaction method section will be most hepfull, as it contains information on how to balance hydrogen and oxygen depending on reaction conditions.

Read the lectures and try by yourself, post again when you get stuck - explaining where you get stuck and why.
