I’ve worked in construction for 18 years. I’m interested in certain adhesives myself. But what is the subject matter of the book/video/link that you are asking for?

I want to a question. I have a problem about to decorative mortar (line pattern) aplication. Construction foreaman having difficulty during the application. Because line pattern of mortar is does'nt good look. Large granular calcite in  the mortar need to make striped design but it is not.

We need to chemical additive. I try flowable chemical but it was not complete because large granul calcite passed to the bottom layer.

I find a chemical additive for decorative mortar but this is very intresting additive. When I put chemical additive, the mortar is not hardening in bucket (more than 48 hours) but mortar is hardening on the wall surface.

Bigger surface area to volume ration on the wall rather than in the bucket?

What cures it? If it is water drying or UV then the surface area to volume will play a big part and it would dry quicker on the wall than in the bucket.

θYou are right but what I mean our mortar has been not drying for three days in bucket but it is fastly drying (3 or 4 hours) on the wall so in my opinion it shouldnt be so different between two area ( bucket = three - four days, wall surface= three or four hours)

Why doesn't paint dry in the tin? It can sit in a tin for years but put it on the wall and it dries in an hour. ;-)

What normally cause the mortar to cure? Has the additive changed the pH at all?

I guess it doesn't mater - it sounds like a good thing rather than a problem  -  it still dries on the wall in good time but you get an extra day or 2 in the bucket before it sets off and becomes useless. I guess this could save on wastages as un used product can be used again on next job? :-)

I want to ask you another question.

more water required when calcite surface area expand so the strength of the cement decreasing. Reduces the strength of concrete when excess water is evaporated. 

But,  in my opinion water/cement is not rising, because excess water is absorbed by the calcite. In that case, surface area of calcite shouldn't affect strength of the concrete...
