Calculate concentration of Acetic Acid
« on: June 02, 2018, 12:10:01 PM »
Hi I have to calculate the concentration of CH3-COOH knowing that titration of 100 ml acid were used 10ml of a 1N NaOH solution.

I think I have to use the formula:Cacid*Vacid=Cbase *Vequivalence but I'm not sure.
Please help me and explain the steps,thanks in advance!

Start with the reaction equation. Titration is not about using magical formula, but about following stoichiometry.

Start with the reaction equation. Titration is not about using magical formula, but about following stoichiometry.

Ch3-COOH+NaOH->CH3-COONa+H20
And afterwards??

Follow the stoichiometry - how many moles of NaOH reacted?

I'm not sure I'm sorry I thought 1.It would be easier if you'd just explain the solution for me and I would understand it that way.Thanks

It's better in terms of your learning if you come to the solution your self. What equations do you know for calculating number of moles of something from concentration and volume?
