Ether extraction

Would you recommend ether extraction as a means of separating a mixture of two dyes? Why and why not?

There are thousands of different dyes and this question is entirely dependant on the exact structure of the two

One could formulate an answer hypothetically.  When is liquid-liquid extraction a successful technique in general?

I will chime in with one piece of experience: Most dyes that are not azo or anthraquinone dyes are charged, and therefore poorly soluble in ether.
