[Ar] 3d5 4s1. Chromium or Manganese cation?
« on: October 29, 2018, 11:07:45 PM »
Okay I happen to know that it is in fact Chromium.
But what would be the electron configuration for a Manganese 1+ cation?
And why do so many transition metals only have one s electron?

Cheers

They are isoelectronic, so without knowing total charge you can't tell which one it is.
