Hydrochloric Solution Question
«
on:
November 26, 2018, 03:30:29 PM »
Traditionally my lab has always made a 13% HCl solution with a concentrated 36% HCl 11.65M. I believe this would be 1.5145M once diluted to 13%.
We have run out of the solution and now only have 0.5M HCl remaining. Is it possible to make solution with this that will work for testing purposes? If so what would the calculation be and how much would I need for 1000mL of solution.
Thank you in Advance

If your normal solution is about 1,5 M then the 0,5 M is to much diluted. What you can do add 3 times more 0,5 M for testing. The correct number calculate by yourself.

That's assuming it is amount that matters, not concentration. Not knowing what the test is you can't tell if it will work.

1.5145 M HCl is about 5.2 %.
