Hey, I need help answering these questions;
The molar compositions of a continuous reactor effluent of a green chemical process is assessed and the results are summarized in Table 1.

Table 1. Reactor Operating Conditions

Formic Acid                                                 30
Leuvulinic Acid                                            28
Glucose                                                     17
Hydroximethylfurfural                                 25

Task 1.1 (Literature review-analysis.
(i) Write the chemical formula of the species listed in Table 1.
(ii) Stoichiometric Analysis (Applying the metrix reduction technique)

Task 1.2 Result and Discussion
(i) Write the Proposed Balanced Stochimetry
(ii) Results and Discussions.

Any thoughts of your own - what is the formula of formic acid, for instance?

I'm not sure if these are correct but the chemical formulas for each of these would be the following:


Formic Acid - CH2O2
HMF - C6H6O3
Leuvulinic Acid - C5H8O3
Glucose - C6H12O6.

If anyone could guide me on the Stoichiometric Analysis (using the metrix reduction technique) step by step?

There are literally no hits in Google for "metrix reduction technique."

This paper says glucose is converted to hydroximethylfurfural, from there it goes to formic acid and leuvulinic acid. I hope it helps.

That helps a lot thank you, but any advice on where I can find the best guide for carrying out Stoichiometric Analysis?

Hi Shaz, I'm honestly not sure. But I always start by writing the balanced chemical equation. I think you should start there too.
